COMPLETION OF THE UNFINISHED USONIAN
WISCONSIN
Psalm 118:22 The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone
The main volume of the 1954 Greenberg house is built on a hill and cantilevered on top of boulders.
The master bedroom wing was left unbuilt until over five decades but Maurice Greenberg, the original owner, had the foresight to order enough brick to finish construction.
“It’s not everyone’s cup of tea” Maureen Greenberg said, of living in Wright house. “It more or less takes over your whole life. Yes, the bathrooms and closets are too small, and yes, repairs cost a fortune”
When detailing the “master wing” completion, we used the original blueprints for layout, elevation design, and interior and exterior details but integrated a contemporary approach to achieve thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
