LAURENT HOUSE MUSEUM
ILLINOIS
The Laurent residence was originally conceived as a fully wheelchair accessible living space.
While planning for the new museum function. the challenges were thermal comfort/humidity control for a larger amount of occupants and stormwater drainage from the flat roof.
An Exoskeletal forced air system was installed above the roof framing and below an added layer of insulation. The ductwork is located towards the center of the roof, so that the tapered insulation could maintain the original fascia thickness and not alter the exterior elevations design.
The forced air supply register were integrated in the custom recessed lighting to preserve the original ceiling design.
